JOB DESCRIPTION

The Youth Team Coach is a part of a team of coaches who are responsible for delivering practice content to our youth climbing teams and crafting the experience for all levels of Youth Team. Youth Team Climbing Coaches partner with Team Coach Supervisors to plan and execute programming that results in transformative experiences for youth athletes and teaches life skills through sport climbing.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

· Monitor for physical, mental and emotional wellbeing and support transformative experiences for athletes while ensuring team activities promote our core values and a sense of belonging in team members

· Work with Youth Team Manager and Team Coach Supervisors to follow the season schedule and deliver the daily instruction for this level of team including Comps, Events, Training plan etc.

· Coach at practices of this level of team, and competitions as needed based on athlete attendance.

· Provide supervision for youth climbers who will be bouldering, lead climbing and belaying.

· Assist Team Coach Supervisor with administrative duties for this team level, including monitoring team rosters, tracking belay training, organizing practice notes, and communicating with parents.

· Effectively communicate any issues or concerns with coaching staff and the Gym Leadership team in a timely manner.

· Collaborate with Team Coach Supervisor to facilitate mentorship opportunities and personal development for their team level.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

· Embody Movement Core Values and the desired culture of our youth team

· Passion for working with youth and developing youth climbing athletes

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with athletes, coaches, parents, and gym leadership.

· Knowledge and experience in climbing instruction commensurate with the team level being coached

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• This position is a Part Time (6-15hours/week), non-exempt position, including gym membership, gear discounts, guest passes, and other benefits available to Movement employees
• We are currently hiring for our Advanced & Competition Team Coach position(s).
  
  • Our Advanced Team regularly meets on two weeknights for 3hrs per session.
  • Our Competitive Team regularly meets on two weeknights and Saturdays for 3.5hrs per session*
    
    • *Plus occasional weekend travel for competitions (typically Saturdays but sometimes Sundays)
    • **Specific days of the week for practices may change during the summer and into the fall competition 2026 season.
• Starting pay is $17 with room for flexibility depending on experience.
• We expect coaches to work with a given team regularly for at least a year.
