Job Description: Fitness Lead / Personal Trainer
Projected Start Date: Fall 2026
Available Shift Hours:
Part-Time (Approximately 20–30 hours per week)
Flexible schedule including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends.
The Fitness Lead / Personal Trainer reports directly to the Regional Manager of the fitness center. The Receptionist Team report directly to the Fitness Lead.
Position Overview:
Movement Company is seeking an energetic, creative, and people-focused Personal Trainer & Fitness Lead to oversee the daily operations of the fitness center while inspiring members to live healthier, more active lives. This individual will blend exceptional customer service with leadership, fitness expertise, and creativity to cultivate a vibrant club culture.
As the Fitness Lead, you will coach and mentor the front desk team, build meaningful relationships with members, lead personal training and specialty fitness programs, and identify opportunities to grow fitness participation and personal training revenue. Key Responsibilities:
- Member Experience: Create an exceptional experience by building relationships with members, greeting guests, learning member goals, and fostering a welcoming, high-energy atmosphere.
- Club Leadership: Oversee the day-to-day operation of the fitness center, supporting the Creative Lead and Reception team while ensuring outstanding customer service and smooth daily operations.
- Personal Training: Conduct fitness assessments, develop personalized exercise programs, and coach members through one-on-one and small group personal training sessions.
- Program Development: Design, organize, and lead specialty fitness programs including Boot Camps, Transformation Challenges, seasonal challenges, and other signature Movement Company events.
- Business Development: Promote personal training, specialty programs, retail merchandise, nutrition products, and other fitness center services to increase member engagement and program participation.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Creative Lead to coordinate marketing campaigns, club events, member appreciation activities, and promotional initiatives.
- Facility Operations: Monitor equipment, cleanliness, safety, and overall facility presentation. Report maintenance concerns promptly and help maintain a professional fitness environment.
- Administrative Support: Assist with scheduling, member inquiries, reporting, fitness assessments, trainer coordination, and operational projects as assigned.
- Continuous Improvement: Bring new ideas that improve member experience, streamline operations, increase participation, and strengthen the overall culture of the fitness center.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Biology, Physiology, Health Sciences, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Current Personal Training certification from a nationally recognized organization (ACE, NASM, ACSM, NSCA, ISSA, or equivalent), or the ability to obtain certification within an agreed-upon timeframe.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
- Previous experience working in a fitness center, health club, recreation facility, or similar customer service environment preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
- Passion for fitness, health, and creating exceptional member experiences.
- Comfortable leading individuals and small group training sessions.
- Self-motivated, creative, organized, and eager to grow professionally.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Miscellaneous / ETC:
- Flexible availability including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Comfortable using computers, Microsoft Office, scheduling software, and fitness technology.
- Enthusiastic about promoting club programs, retail products, specialty events, and community wellness initiatives.
- Willingness to assist with marketing, member engagement, and business development efforts.
