Position summary: The Director of Human Resources works to ensure that Moveable Feast fosters a positive work environment, develops a strong organizational culture, and aligns HR practices with the organization’s mission and strategic objectives. The Director leads initiatives to strengthen and evolve the organizational culture, including but not limited to managing employee relations, implementing talent acquisition strategies, overseeing hiring and onboarding, implementing HR strategies that support strategic objectives, mitigating risk, structuring benefit packages, maintaining employee records, and overseeing overall employment needs. The Director of HR drives HR functional excellence through design and implementation of people strategies that support staff development, enhance safety and wellness, foster job satisfaction and employee retention, attracts qualified talent, and promotes the organization's values.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Organizational Leadership
- Fosters a positive organizational culture aligned with Moveable Feast mission and values.
- Develops, leads, and oversees the implementation of HR policies, practices, and initiatives within the company to ensure employee engagement, retention and work satisfaction.
- Serves on the organizational leadership team that implements the strategic direction of the organization and collaborates across departments to achieve strategic priorities.
- Works with the CEO, and leadership team to facilitate efforts to promote initiatives that foster a sense of belonging and a positive work culture.
- Develops and implements HR policies, procedures, and practices using an equity lens.
- Coordinates with departments to manage daily activities and meet staffing needs.
- Generates monthly reports to provide updates on key HR metrics and goals progress with the leadership team, staff, and board.
Human Resources Management
- Oversees the administration of human resources for a staff of approx. 60-70 people.
- Supervises and supports the Administrative Associate.
- Manages talent acquisition including recruitment, screening, hiring, and onboarding.
- Manages employee performance including ongoing support, coaching supervisors through performance issues with staff, reviewing and approving performance improvement plans, and meeting with staff as needed.
- Oversees staff professional development including training and support for staff supervisors.
- Ensures the Employee Handbook, HR policies and internal forms are updated, approved and in compliance with current federal and state employment laws.
- Provides initial and ongoing performance management training for managers including disciplinary actions and proper documentation.
- Manages short-term and long-term disability claims; monitors and tracks the leave of absence process and ensures compliance with applicable laws.
- Manages the employee separation and offboarding process including exit interviews, separation letters, communication with supervisor and employee, documentation, and consulting with the Executive Director.
- Ensures benefits and compensation practices are in compliance with applicable wage and labor laws.
- Oversees the maintenance and organization of personnel files.
Other Duties:
- Represents Moveable Feast on boards, committees, coalitions and working groups and at meetings and community events as needed.
- Adheres to all Federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations, by protecting the privacy and security of all patient/client health information
- Participates in Moveable Feast’s events as required.
- Knowledge of and adherence to Moveable Feast’s Personnel Policies and Procedures
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned or requested.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in human resources management
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or a similar discipline. An additional 3 years of experience can substitute for a degree.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly preferred.
- Prior experience working in or volunteering at a nonprofit organization.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law

- Must be proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, video conferencing, slide presentations, online calendar and email
