Occupational Therapist (School-Based Program)
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Contract Length: 5 Weeks
Overview:
We are currently seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist to support students in a school-based ESY (Extended School Year) program. This role will support TK–8th grade students within a special education setting and involves providing occupational therapy assessments, consultations, and direct therapy services.
The caseload includes approximately 19 students, with a mix of both group and individual therapy sessions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct occupational therapy evaluations using standardized and non-standardized assessments
- Observe and assess motor skills, sensory processing, posture, movement patterns, and functional abilities
- Provide direct therapy services in both individual and group settings
- Collaborate with special education teams to identify appropriate services and educational strategies
- Assist in developing functional motor goals for Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Attend IEP meetings and maintain accurate student progress documentation
- Provide recommendations to classroom staff to improve student participation and classroom functionality
- Train classroom staff on body mechanics, lifting safety, positioning, and handling techniques
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program
- Current NBCOT certification
- Active California Occupational Therapist License
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with TK–12 students
- Experience supporting students with disabilities
- Prior school-based or ESY experience preferred
