Primary Purpose
The Shipping & Cooler Superintendent ensures the successful execution of daily plant operations by aligning procedures, people, and resources to achieve established goals for quality, efficiency, service, and safety. This role provides strong operational leadership across multiple areas, ensuring accurate order fulfillment, effective staffing, regulatory compliance, and a safe, high‑performing work environment.
Major Duties & Responsibilities- Plan and oversee daily and weekly order fulfillment, ensuring accurate staffing assignments and efficient workflow across Shipping and Cooler operations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Production Practices (GPPs) to support consistent, compliant operations.
- Ensure product quality, packaging specifications, and customer requirements are met; identify trends, defects, and improvement opportunities, and implement corrective actions.
- Train and coach team members on food safety regulations, operational standards, and best practices.
- Monitor and achieve key departmental metrics, including BPMH, Cost/lb., PPMH, A‑Grade %, and service accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with all HR and Safety policies, including verifying Kronos and Fusion activity, overseeing disciplinary processes, and ensuring timely completion of safety and certification training.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on efficiency, accuracy, cost control, and employee engagement.
- Maintain strong communication with Production, QA, Transportation, and Customer Service to support seamless plant operations.
- Monday–Friday: 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Saturday work as scheduled when the plant is running
- Must be flexible based on operational needs, production flow, and customer demand.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (Agriculture, Operations Management, Business, or related field).
- Minimum 5 years of demonstrated supervisory or management experience, including experience overseeing multiple departments.
- Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
- Previous poultry or food manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with financial and operational analysis in a production environment (e.g., Agristats).
- Knowledge and experience with HACCP principles.
- Familiarity with USDA regulations, sanitation requirements, and pre‑operations guidelines.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to manage a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
