About the Position:

The Clinical Nurse Manager plays a key role in leading quality improvement efforts, supporting regulatory compliance, overseeing staffing needs, and promoting effective interdisciplinary collaboration across Detox and Residential levels of care. This position requires clear communication, navigating change constructively, and aligning new initiatives with client safety, quality care, and organizational standards.

The Clinical Nurse Manager is passionate about developing others, strengthening clinical practice, and supporting a team-centered culture of accountability, learning, and continuous improvement. This role works alongside nursing staff to provide education, coaching, guidance, and support while helping team members build confidence, consistency, and professional growth. 


Schedule:

Monday - Friday: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm


Your Role:

  • Provide direct oversight of nursing care delivery in detox and residential settings. 
  • Ensure implementation of evidence-based practices for withdrawal management (e.g., CIWA, COWS protocols). 
  • Monitor patient acuity and adjust staffing and care plans accordingly. 
  • Promote trauma-informed, culturally competent, and recovery-oriented care. 
  • Participate in complex case reviews and high-risk patient management. 
  • Collaborate with physicians, psychiatry, and behavioral health teams to ensure integrated care. 
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain qualified nursing staff. 
  • Supervise RNs, LPNs, and nursing support staff. 
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and mentorship. 
  • Develop staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage. 
  • Identify training needs and coordinate ongoing education (e.g., addiction medicine, de-escalation, MAT). 
  • Foster a culture of accountability, compassion, and teamwork. 
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., Department of Health, DEA, OSHA). 
  • Maintain adherence to accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CARF). 
  • Oversee medication management practices, including controlled substances. 
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the EMR. 
  • Lead audits, inspections, and corrective action plans as needed. 
  • Monitor key quality indicators (e.g., incidents, medication errors, and patient outcomes). 
  • Partner in quality improvement initiatives focused on patient safety and program effectiveness. 
  • Investigate incidents and sentinel events; implement corrective actions. 
  • Recommend and implement nursing policies and procedures aligned with best practices in addiction treatment. 
  • Support infection control and workplace safety programs.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and treatment planning. 
  • Partner with therapists, case managers, and peer support specialists. 
  • Act as a liaison between nursing staff and executive leadership. 
  • Engage with families and external providers when appropriate.
  • Promote patient education related to withdrawal, medications, and recovery. 
  • Address patient and family concerns or grievances. 
  • Enhance patient experience and satisfaction within the program. 


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, required 
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut or licensed in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state with eligibility to practice in Connecticut, required 
  • At least 3 years of experience in the field of addiction, program administration, and nursing or comparable experience
  • Two years experience in a leadership/staff supervision position.
  • Experience with both general medical and psychiatric populations
  • Currently certifies in Basic Life Support for Health Care Provider required 
  • Certification as a Certified Addiction Registered Nurse (CARN) or Certified Mental Health or Psychiatric Registered Nurse, preferred


Compensation:

The base rate of pay for this position is $105,000 - $115,000 per year. Actual pay is determined based on a number of job-related factors including skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities, geographic location, performance, and working conditions.
