- Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center is an 820,000-square-foot facility that offers the latest medical programs, cutting-edge technology, and patient-focused care that includes 365 beds, 1,200 employees and a 27-bed Emergency Room/Fast Track Unit.
Responsibilities
- The Telecom Operator answers phones in a courteous manner, directing individuals to the correct department/individual, and answers any property information questions.
- Answers telephone calls in a clear and concise manner and provides necessary information in a courteous and professional manner.
- Advances callers to appropriate destination numbers.
- Processes patient requests through the computerized telephone system for installation of patient telephones.
- Initiates the opening and closing of patients’ phones according to the designated time of services.
- Enters required data in various computerized voice/data systems.
- Calls patients to inform them of telephone service and dialing instructions.
- Responds in a timely and professional manner to various emergency alarm systems and notifies designated personnel. In addition, announces emergency codes over the paging system in a calm, clear, professional manner.
- Monitors lists of all current on-call emergency services and maintains correct beeper and home phone numbers.
- Understands all disaster plan policies and procedures and implements all necessary responses accordingly.
- Informs supervisor of all patient or staff complaints or concerns.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
1 years’ experience working with phone systems.
Effective oral communication skills.
Preferred Job Requirements:
- Computerized data entry experience.
Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education, and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
