Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Gastroenterology Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in assisting gastroenterologists with diagnostic procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout their visit. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, along with proficiency in aseptic techniques and medical imaging.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of patients for gastroenterological procedures, ensuring they understand the process and feel comfortable.
- Maintain a sterile environment by adhering to aseptic techniques during procedures.
- Operate and maintain medical imaging equipment to assist in diagnostic evaluations.
- Collect and document patient data accurately, including medical history and vital signs.
- Support gastroenterologists during endoscopic procedures by providing necessary instruments and materials.
- Ensure all equipment is properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained according to health regulations.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Collect and label tissue specimens appropriately.
- Stay updated on advancements in gastroenterology practices and technologies.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Experience
- A solid understanding of medical terminology is essential for effective communication within the healthcare team.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology is critical for assisting in procedures and understanding patient needs.
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques to ensure safety during invasive procedures.
- Experience with medical imaging techniques that aid in diagnostic evaluations is preferred.
- Previous experience in a clinical or hospital setting is required.
Work Schedule:
- This position follows an alternative work schedule of four (4) days per week, totaling 40 hours. Employees will work 10-hour shifts per day, beginning between 6:00 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. based on department needs and supervisor approval.
- Employees will receive three (3) days off each week. On odd-numbered weeks, these days off will be consecutive; on even-numbered weeks, they may be non-consecutive. The position does not require evening or weekend work. Occasional adjustments to the schedule may be made to meet operational or staffing needs.
