What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Teacher - SDC (Mild to Moderate/Moderate to Severe) position at Mountain View School District - El Monte?
Teaches students with dissabilities the basic learning skills as directed by the student's IEP.
Develops and uses intructional materials for verbal and visual instruction of students with wide range of physical and emotional maturities.
Assess pupil progress on a regular basis, revising the IEP at least on an annual basis and referring to the School Appraisal Team for further study when appropriate.
With the approval of the School Appraisal Team, recommends and works with other certificated personnel for the integration of pupil into regular classes (mainstreaming).
Assists in screening and diagnostic testing including active participation in the School appraisal Team or Educational Assessment Service when appropriate.
Provides consultation and assistance in curriculum planning with teachers regarding attainment of the IEP objectives and goals for mainstreamed children. To diagnose and where appropriate, remediate deficiencies in reading, spelling and arithmetic skills, auditory and visual perception and fine and gross motor coordination.
Maintain professionl competency by attendance at District sponsored workshops and inservice training.
Familiar with formal testing procedures and competent in informal testing procedures.
