Position Overview
Mountain View Montessori Charter School seeks an exceptional Executive Director to serve as the school’s chief leader and public face. This role oversees the school’s educational, administrative, maintenance, and counseling functions, ensures compliance with state and federal requirements, and works with the Business Manager to support the prudent use of school funds.
The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and serves as a non-voting administrative member of the Board. This leader advances the school’s vision and mission and builds a positive, high-expectation culture with students, staff, and families.

About the Role
The Executive Director provides overall leadership for the school’s academics, operations, personnel, student support, budgeting, safety, policy implementation, and community relationships.
This role requires a leader who can combine high standards with strong relationships. The ideal candidate makes sound decisions, communicates clearly, owns outcomes with integrity, and grows through feedback.
Key ResponsibilitiesMission and Board Partnership
- Pursue the vision and execute the mission of the school.
- Serve as a non-voting administrative member of the School Board and attend Board meetings as requested.
- Work with the Board to review, update, and create policies aligned with the school’s mission and with state and federal requirements.
- Keep the Board informed regarding school conditions, needs, and priorities.
- Review and update parent/student and employee handbooks with the Board.
Academic and Program Leadership
- Develop and evaluate the educational program to ensure alignment with state standards and Board policies.
- Oversee instructional quality and coordinate educational programs through meetings, teacher review, and clear direction.
- Hold regular faculty meetings on educational and administrative matters.
- Work with the Instructional Coach to identify support and training needs for teachers.
- Oversee programs for students with disabilities and approve school programs and services.
People Leadership and Culture
- Identify vacancies, interview candidates, and hire strong mission-aligned employees.
- Meet regularly with the Administrative Team to align priorities and assignments.
- Communicate consistently with faculty, staff, and parents.
- Work with teachers, students, and parents to address educational and behavioral concerns.
- Review and update job descriptions as needed.

Operations, Finance, and Compliance
- Work with the Board and Business Manager to plan and monitor the budget.
- Review and sign purchase requisitions and leave requests and oversee timesheets.
- Direct preparation of schedules, attendance reports, cumulative records, and other required reports.
- Ensure accurate student registration and record maintenance, including transfers.
- Oversee supplies, equipment, instructional materials, email triage, and confidentiality practices.
Student Support, Safety, and Campus Stewardship
- Oversee student discipline and supervision according to approved practices and policies.
- Implement precautions and plans to protect the health and well-being of students and staff.
- Oversee drills and procedures for fire, earthquake, shelter-in-place, lockout, and lockdown situations.
- Work with the Maintenance Supervisor to maintain safe, well-kept buildings and grounds.
- Help oversee student organization activities supported by the school.
- Demonstrate safe work practices and a positive safety attitude.
Community Engagement
- Serve as the public face and voice of the school.
- Articulate school goals and policies to staff, students, families, and the community.
- Build strong relationships with community organizations, consortiums, and other schools.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Education or a closely related field required.
- Administrative/Supervisory Endorsement and/or at least three years of related experience preferred.
- At least three years of classroom teaching experience preferred.
- Utah State Level 2 or 3 License preferred, with Administrative/Supervisory Endorsement preferred.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, reasoning, and general computer skills required.
- Commitment to the founding principles of the charter required.
Work Environment
This role includes regular standing, walking, and sitting, along with occasional physical activity such as reaching, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting.
