Job Description: 

Overall responsibility for the successful operation of the school including improvement of instruction, administrative procedures, and support services of the school. Demonstrates integrity and fairness. Communicates openly and honestly. Promotes high academic standards and ensures rigorous instruction and high expectations for all students. Demonstrates expertise in staff evaluation and staff development that lead to improved staff and student performance. Promotes a positive school climate. Interacts effectively with students, staff and parents. Supports staff and recognizes staff as professionals. Uses a participatory leadership style characterized by shared decision-making.

 

Expected Leadership Proficiencies, Skills and Experience:

Current Oregon administrative license or eligibility for license and a Master’s Degree or greater in education or a related field.

 

Model inclusive leadership with visionary mindset.

Prior successful experience in public school administration. Develops and maintains a positive school climate and culture.

Articulate belief system through voice and actions, leading the school in a clear focus, communicating your vision for the school, and being the change agent when necessary.

 

Articulate effective instructional practices by providing intellectual stimulation, being actively involved in, and having knowledge of current research in curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

 

Assess the quality of classroom instruction by monitoring, being visible, conducting walk-throughs regularly, communicating, and providing a clear behavior structure and atmosphere.

 

Possess a collaborative and solution-oriented leadership model.

 

Implement an accountability system through the district accreditation process, aligning instruction with state and district standards, using the district evaluation system, providing expectations for an orderly atmosphere, holding data discussions with staff and teachers, and adapting to the needs of the current situation by seeking input.

 

Establish and foster an adult learning environment by maximizing collaboration and adult learning to improve instruction, providing teachers with materials, inspiring new and challenging innovations, and valuing a sense of community.

 

Organize school's operations around improvement of instruction by maintaining a safe and orderly environment, upholding state laws, contracts and district policies, managing personnel, maintaining facility to provide a quality learning environment, efficiently managing financial resources, establishing effective public relationships, and coordinating effective instructional programs with a master schedule.

 

Utilize educational, financial, personnel, material and facility resources in supervising the instructional and extra-curricular activities of students.

 

Maintain liaison and articulation with other schools concerning planning, implementation and evaluation of curriculum and related educational activities.

 

Promote curriculum improvement and ensure the usage of adopted programs of study.

 

Direct and/or participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of staff development.

 

Prepare, implement, and monitor fiscal/budgetary plans, including necessary reports, inventories, and accounting of building funds.

 

Interpret, implement, and administer all board policies and administrative procedures relating to programs and personnel.

Use public information strategies to promote interest and support for district goals, objectives, and programs.

Determine building staffing needs and supervise the staff selection process.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 

Language Skills:

Ability to read English and comprehend complex technical language. Ability to write memos, reports, and correspondence in English. Ability to effectively present information in one-to-one and small group situations.

 

Mathematical Skills: 

Ability to perform advanced mathematical calculations with a high degree of accuracy.

 

Reasoning Ability:

 Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed written or oral instructions in English.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Other Skills and Abilities: 

Ability to work collaboratively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisor(s), staff, students, parents, and community.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and may be continuously required to stand. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk while performing the duties of this job. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. The employee may be required to sit at a desk and use a computer for long periods of time.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

 

Works in a school environment.  Able to use a telephone, operate a computer, and use other office equipment.  Ability to drive to other program sites and meetings.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary and work year in accordance with negotiated agreement between licensed administrators and the district.

 

CLASSIFICATION: 

Full time, probationary position, at Mountain View Middle School.

 

CALENDAR/SALARY/BENEFITS:

8 hours per day; 228 days starting July 23, 2026.

 

Salary range based on prior experience, $130,636 - $148,157, per the Administrator II Salary Schedule.
