Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent with completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program.
- Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (e.g., CPT, PBT) from a recognized certifying body.
- Demonstrated experience in venipuncture and sample collection techniques.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and infection control standards.
- Basic understanding of laboratory equipment and sample handling procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a clinical laboratory or healthcare setting involving analytical testing.
- Familiarity with chromatography techniques, including gas chromatography, and spectroscopy methods.
- Additional certification or coursework in laboratory sciences or chemistry.
- Proficiency in using laboratory information systems (LIS) for sample tracking and data entry.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures on patients of all ages following established safety and quality protocols.
- Prepare and label samples accurately to ensure proper identification and traceability throughout the testing process.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment related to sample preparation, including devices used in chromatography and spectroscopy.
- Collaborate with laboratory technicians and healthcare providers to ensure samples meet analytical requirements and are processed efficiently.
- Maintain detailed records of sample collection, patient information, and equipment maintenance in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Adhere to infection control and safety standards to protect patients, staff, and self during all procedures.
- Assist in the preparation of samples for analytical tests such as gas chromatography and wet chemistry analyses.
