Job Summary
This position provides the technical functions associated with the delivery of clinical pharmacy services by maintaining and ordering supplies for proper stock levels in the pharmacy; compounding or otherwise preparing and filling syringes and IV mixture bags, which will include chemotherapy and delivering pharmaceuticals or other related items. Will perform duties such as completing reports operating and maintaining automated dispensing devices, inputting computer data, preparing sterile USP and compounds, and providing all aspects of customer service that are required to provide Department services. This position completes the essential functions of the job under the direct supervision of a physician.

Duties And Responsibilities
Prepares compounds and dispenses medications, chemotherapy, and other high alert intravenous medications upon physician's orders. Oversees daily pharmaceutical inventory stocking, restocking and management using automated dispensing devices; assists with processing patient charge tickets. Maintains clean and safe operation of biological safety cabinets. Oversees inventory of medications including performing routine cycle counts of drug inventory, rotating stock and pulling outdated medications. Assists pharmacists, physicians, nurses, and staff as needed. Attends training classes, programs, and departmental meetings. Manages supply ordering, and maintains supplies in all medication areas, ensuring all areas are fully stocked. Adheres to and regulations, appropriately prepares IV compounds, and maintains necessary competencies. Appropriately cleans sterile areas and appropriately documents. Responsible for ordering clinical supplies for the pharmacy, infusion area and clinic; reconciles invoices. Problem solves operational issues within the department Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education/Certification: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Must possess an active Pharmacy Technician license from the Idaho State Board of Pharmacy.
Experience: Training equivalent to one year beyond high school; supplemented with two (2) years of related experience.
Language/Communication: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Mental Capabilities: Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Interpersonal: Ability to work well with others, and to deal effectively with all types of people.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.
- Ability to provide care appropriate to the population served.
- May vary work routines according to patient care priorities.
- Ability to recognize major problems encountered by include first line screening for medication order errors, drug or allergy contraindications, and processing non-formulary drug requests.
- May encounter problem solving for operation and maintenance of all automated systems in the Pharmacy Department.
- Performing the essential duties of this position may involve standing for extended periods of time and/or handling heavy or bulky supply containers.
- Knowledge and ability to perform mathematical calculations for extemporaneous compounding and special dose preparation, rectifying drug distribution errors, reconciling billing and administration records, etc.
