Mountain View Hearth Products is seeking an experienced Accounting Specialist/Bookkeeper to join our small but dynamic team. MVHP is the leader in repair parts for the e-commerce hearth industry. We sell replacement parts for fireplaces, wood stoves, and pellet stoves.
The Accounting Specialist/bookkeeper will handle all AR/AP accounts, enter invoices, oversee vendor error management, handle carrier claims, and communicate with vendors regarding pricing and shipment errors. The ideal candidate will be highly detailed and organized. This position requires a minimum of 2 years of previous bookkeeping/accounting experience. It's important to note that this position requires a fair amount of autonomy as well as the ability to work with the company’s main Bookkeeper.
Job Requirements:
- Complete all AR/AP transactions and entries promptly - including invoice, bill, and credit entries
- Create and deliver bank deposits
- Issue checks
- Account reconciliation
- Contact and resolve past-due wholesale account customers
- Resolve any customer chargeback/disputes utilizing correct documentation, diplomacy, and professionalism
- File, review, and enter all bookkeeping-related emails
- Answer all emails professionally and with correct spelling and grammar
- Oversee and resolve any vendor error discrepancies (short-shipments, broken items, pricing errors)
- Assist with shipping damage carrier claims
- Demonstrate a calm and courteous attitude with all customers and vendors
- Work as a collaborative team player in a positive work environment
- Be able to work a flexible schedule and work overtime as needed
- Qualifications:
- Must have 2 years of previous experience as a bookkeeper/accountant
- Must be able to type at least 50 WPM
- Must be able to excel in a fast-paced environment
- Must possess impeccable integrity and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
- Must be highly organized and have a passion for numerical accuracy
- Experience with Excel, Word, and Google Suite required
- Experience with Quickbooks and Netsuite is highly preferred (but willing to train the right person)
- Excellent interpersonal skills — assertive, diplomatic, and professional
- Multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment required
- Must be able to handle a high volume of transactions, and high dollar amounts

Work Schedule: Shift varies between 8 am-4 pm, Monday through Friday (with some flexibility in the schedule)
Job Type: Part-time (not eligible for remote work) = 30 hours a week expected during the winter months, schedule will be lighter during the summer with flexibility in the work schedule.
Salary: $23 - $25/hr DOE
