Position Summary
The Medical Assistant (MA) at Mountain View Headache and Spine Institute, PLLC and Sonoran MD plays a vital role in supporting providers and ensuring high-quality patient care. This position is responsible for both clinical and administrative duties, including patient intake, clinical testing, assisting with procedures, maintaining accurate medical records, and ensuring compliance with all clinicals, safety, and confidentiality standards.
Clinical Responsibilities
· Room patients, obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, medications, and chief complaints accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
· Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, infusions, and injections
· Assist physicians and advanced practice providers during procedures and exams, including maintaining sterile fields and preparing equipment
· Perform clinical tasks as assigned and within scope
· Monitor patients during and after procedures; report abnormal findings promptly
· Maintain exam rooms, procedure rooms, and medication areas, including stocking supplies and checking expiration dates.
· Follow infection control, OSHA, and safety protocols at all times
Required Qualifications
· Current Medical Assistant certification or registration (CMA, RMA, or equivalent), or relevant clinical experience as approved by the practice
· BLS certification (must be current)
· Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures
· Basic computer skills and ability to learn EMR systems
· Strong organizational and multitasking skills
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
· Previous experience in pain management, headache medicine, orthopedics, or spine practices.
· EMR experience (ECW experience a plus).
Physical and Work Requirements
· Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the clinic for extended periods.
· Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 25–30 pounds.
· Manual dexterity to perform clinical procedures and documentation.
· Ability to work in a clinical environment with exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and medical equipment, in accordance with safety protocols.
