Position Summary

Sonoran ASC is seeking an experienced, hands-on ASC Administrator/Director of Nursing to serve as the center's senior operational and clinical leader. This combined position is accountable for daily ASC operations, nursing services, patient safety, staffing, quality, regulatory compliance, financial stewardship, credentialing, personnel records, and coordination of all services provided by or through the center. The role works closely with the Chief Operating Officer, Medical Director, Governing Body, physicians, anesthesia professionals, Human Resources, administrative staff, and the perioperative team to provide safe, efficient, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

- Serve as the designated ASC Administrator and remain accountable to executive leadership and the Governing Body for daily operations and all services provided by or through the center.

- Direct administrative and clinical operations across pre-op, procedure and operating rooms, PACU, recovery, discharge, scheduling, business-office support, and contracted services.

- Implement Governing Body decisions and maintain required policies, licenses, permits, agreements, administrative records, patient-rights processes, and continuous survey readiness.

- Develop and monitor budgets, staffing costs, case volume, productivity, supply and medication expenses, vendor performance, facility needs, and other financial or operational indicators.

- Oversee contracts, vendors, purchasing, facility readiness, equipment, information-technology coordination, security, maintenance, and continuity-of-operations needs.

- Maintain sufficient qualified staffing based on case volume, patient acuity, procedure type, and the center's scope of services; provide clinical coverage when needed and competent to do so.

- Supervise and develop ASC clinical staff through scheduling, orientation, competency validation, education, performance management, and ongoing coaching.

- Ensure safe nursing practice, complete clinical documentation, effective patient handoffs, appropriate discharge processes, and compliance with facility policies and professional standards.

- Lead or participate in QAPI activities, incident review, chart audits, corrective-action plans, clinical data tracking, monthly PACU and pre-op statistics, and Governing Body reporting.

- Maintain continuous readiness for Arizona, CMS, accreditation, pharmacy, infection-control, life-safety, and other regulatory surveys or inspections.

- Oversee infection-prevention practices, environmental safety, emergency preparedness, clinical drills, medication safety, and controlled-substance accountability.

- Manage clinical equipment, emergency supplies, medications, controlled substances, inventory, maintenance, expiration monitoring, purchasing, and vendor coordination.

- Manage provider and allied health credentialing, including initial and renewal files, primary source verifications, privileges, expirable documents, and Governing Body approvals.

- Maintain confidential, audit-ready files for W-2 ASC employees and separate files for 1099 contractors, including applicable agreements, W-9s, licenses, certifications, insurance, health clearances, orientation, competencies, training, and acknowledgments.

- Partner with physicians, anesthesia professionals, leadership, Human Resources, business-office staff, and administrative teams to resolve clinical, financial, staffing, scheduling, documentation, equipment, and workflow concerns.

- Promote a professional, accountable, collaborative culture focused on patient safety, quality outcomes, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications

- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a current, active, and unrestricted Arizona RN license or valid multistate compact privilege.

- Current BLS and ACLS certification; PALS required when applicable to the center's patient population or services.

- At least five years of recent perioperative, operating room, PACU, critical care, emergency, procedural, or comparable nursing experience.

- At least two years of clinical supervisory, nursing-management, or ASC administrative leadership experience in an ASC, surgical department, procedural setting, or comparable environment.

- Working knowledge of ASC administration, nursing operations, pre-op, circulating, PACU, medication management, infection prevention, emergency response, clinical documentation, staffing, credentialing, budgeting, contracts, competencies, and quality improvement.

- Strong leadership, communication, organization, problem-solving, and regulatory-compliance skills.

- Ability to work onsite and support early, late, or unscheduled operational needs when required.

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor of Science in Nursing; advanced degree in nursing, healthcare administration, business, or a related field is a plus.

- Prior ASC Administrator, Director of Nursing, Clinical Director, or Nurse Manager experience, with combined ASC Administrator and Director of Nursing experience strongly preferred.

- CNOR, CAPA, CPAN, CASC, CIC, or another relevant perioperative, recovery, ASC, quality, or infection-prevention credential.

- Experience with pain-management procedures, anesthesia services, fluoroscopy-supported procedures, credentialing, QAPI, accreditation surveys, and Governing Body reporting.

Physical and Work Requirements

The position requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, assist with patient movement or emergency response using appropriate assistance, lift and carry up to 25 pounds routinely, operate clinical equipment, and work in an environment with potential exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, radiation environments, anesthetic agents, and clinical chemicals.
