Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and caring Substitute Teacher's Assistant to join our team on an on-call basis. This position supports the classroom teacher in managing and engaging a class of up to 15 students. You will help supervise during instructional times, assist with classroom transitions, and support students during lunch, recess, and bathroom breaks. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children in a small-group setting and is comfortable stepping in when needed.
Responsibilities
- Assist the lead teacher with classroom management and daily routines.
- Support students during small group and whole group learning activities.
- Supervise and engage with students during lunch and recess.
- Escort students to and from the bathroom.
- Help and maintain a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment
- Follow teacher instructions and adapt quickly to classroom needs
- Communicate professionally with students, staff, and families as needed.
Qualifications
Required:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with children in grades K-6.
- Comfortable working with both neurotypical and neurodivergent students.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow direction.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Ability to supervise up to 15 students alongside a lead teacher.
Preferred:
- Experience in a classroom, homeschool, childcare, or enrichment setting.
- Familiarity with neurodiversity and inclusive education practices.
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Availability for both Tuesday and Thursday shifts when needed
Additional Information
- This is a 1099 independent contractor position
- On-call position: You will be contacted with the regular assistant is unavailable and you may accept or decline the assignment.
- Hours are limited to Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
