Marketing and Events Coordinator
Reporting Relationship: Executive Director
Direct Reports: None
FSLA: Hourly; Non-Exempt
FTE: 28 hours
Salary Range: $24-$26 hourly; DOE; typically starts mid-range
Location: Office
Schedule: M-TH, occasional nights and weekend
Position Summary: The Marketing and Events Coordinator will work closely with the Executive Director in the creation and strategic planning of marketing, fundraising campaigns, and events. The Marketing and Events Coordinator plays a key role in promoting the community center's programs, events, and facility rentals. This position is responsible for co-creating engaging content, managing communications channels, supporting outreach efforts to strengthen community connections
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Content Creation & Management
- Develop, maintain, and manage content for social media, websites, newsletters, and flyers.
- Manage MVCC website
- Create and maintain marketing calendar for all campaigns
- Share stories that highlight the impact of the center's programs and community involvement.
Marketing & Outreach
- Plan and execute marketing campaigns to promote classes, events, fundraising, and services.
- Collaborate with staff to ensure timely communication of program updates.
Community Engagement
- Support outreach initiatives to attract new members and volunteers.
Brand & Visual Identity
- Ensure consistent branding across all communication materials.
- Design promotional materials using tools like Canva or Adobe Suite.
Calendars
- Manage MVCC master calendar with programming and rentals
Event Planning & Promotion
- Plan and organize community events, workshops, and fundraisers in conjunction with Executive Director and Director of Programs
- Manage the Events Committee and volunteers
- Coordinate logistics such as venue setup, catering, and volunteer scheduling.
- Track event budgets and assist with post-event reporting.
- Serve as point of contact for event participants and partners
- Create and distribute marketing materials for community events and fundraisers.
- Assist with event logistics and on-site communications as needed.
- In-person support at all fundraising events.
Facility Rentals
- Receive and coordinate facility rentals
- Be onsite during rentals or coordinate with MVCC staff to be onsite
Promote and engage in MVCC's mission to "develop successful kids, hopeful families, and active seniors"
Be an active and supportive member of the MVCC Team by
- Help build our culture where "belonging and wellness starts with us"
- Assist in daily office needs/operations as requested
- Attend team meetings
- Keep all shared spaces of the Center organized and clean
Experience, Skills, and Abilities Preferred
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in event management, nonprofit management, marketing, communications, consumer relations or a related field preferred
- At least 1 year of experience in nonprofit or community-based organizations
- Strong organizational, project management, and time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to innovate, learn quickly and independently, and be accountable for high-quality results
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Skills and passion for promoting inclusion and building equitable programming
- Valid Washington state driver's license, access to reliable transportation and proof of adequate vehicle insurance coverage
- Be able to pass a background check
- Be able to lift to 25 pounds
