About the Role
As a Physical Therapy Patient Accounts Representative, you will be the face of our physical therapy department—welcoming patients, managing financial transactions, verifying insurance, maintaining accurate electronic records, and ensuring a seamless experience from check-in to check-out.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and register patients, collect co-pays, and manage account balances
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain authorizations
- Schedule appointments and prepare patient charts
- Monitor physical therapy accounts receivable, post payments, and reconcile end-of-day reports
- Answer phones, direct calls, and handle billing inquiries
- Assist with EMG and MRI check-ins, scanning documents, and ensuring clean, efficient clinical spaces
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA/OSHA regulations
- Handle multi-tasked duties with accuracy and professionalism
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Strong ethical standards and discretion (HIPAA-compliant)
- Excellent computer skills and attention to detail
- Professional demeanor, punctuality, and dependability
Preferred:
- 1–2 years of experience in a medical or physical therapy office
- Knowledge of EMRs, insurance verification, billing codes (CPT, ICD-10), and pre-authorizations
- Typing speed of 40 WPM and proficiency in Microsoft Word
- Strong phone, organizational, and multitasking skills
- Ability to lift up to 30lbs and operate office equipment
