Duties
- Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems including pipes, fixtures, gas piping systems, and HVAC components in new construction and remodeling projects.
- Read and interpret construction plans, schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings to accurately execute plumbing layouts.
- Ensure all work adheres to local building codes, plumbing building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards for mechanical systems.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, pipe threading machines, welding equipment, and other construction tools safely and effectively.
- Perform pipe installation tasks such as pipe fitting, threading, cutting, soldering, welding, and assembly of plumbing components.
- Conduct routine maintenance and repair of existing plumbing systems to prevent leaks or failures in residential or commercial settings.
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, HVAC technicians, carpenters, and other trades to ensure seamless project execution.
- Follow construction plans and schematics precisely while maintaining a focus on quality workmanship.
- Lift heavy materials safely during construction or maintenance tasks while observing all safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed for compliance audits and client records.
- Adhere to safety protocols on-site including proper handling of hazardous materials and gas piping systems.
Skills
- Proven experience in construction plumbing with knowledge of residential and commercial plumbing systems.
- Strong understanding of plumbing building codes and local regulations governing plumbing installation and repair.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, construction plans, and technical drawings with precision.
- Skilled in using hand tools such as wrenches, pipe cutters; power tools including drills; welding equipment; pipe threading machines; and HVAC tools.
- Mechanical knowledge related to plumbing system maintenance & repair as well as MRO (Maintenance Repair Operations).
- Experience working on construction sites with a focus on safety regulations including heavy lifting procedures.
- Familiarity with gas piping systems installation and troubleshooting skills for complex mechanical systems.
- Excellent customer service skills when interacting with clients or project stakeholders during field service tasks.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations required during installation or repairs.
- Knowledge of carpentry principles useful for remodeling or integration with other building trades.
- Ability to operate commercial driving vehicles when transporting materials or equipment between sites.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret schematics accurately under tight deadlines.
