Mountain State Oral & Facial Surgery is seeking a skilled and compassionate Surgical Assistant to join our esteemed team of oral and maxillofacial surgeons. As part of a multi-state network supported by P3 Partners, we provide advanced surgical care and facial cosmetic services with a commitment to clinical excellence and patient-centered care. Our Surgical Assistants play a crucial role in supporting our surgeons during procedures, ensuring patient safety, and facilitating efficient surgical workflow. Duties and Responsibilities:- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Assist physicians during patient examinations and procedures.
- Perform diagnostic imaging, including X-rays, as needed.
- Review and document patient medical histories.
- Ensure all required consent forms are properly completed and signed.
- Prepare and process patient prescriptions with accuracy.
- Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, EKG, and pulse oximetry.
- Accurately document anesthesia records and patient charting.
- Maintain patient airways during sedation and perform suctioning when necessary.
- Provide post-operative monitoring and remain with patients until released to a caregiver.
- Prepare and sanitize surgical and examination rooms.
- Assist with ongoing surgical procedures as needed.
- Uphold strict patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support overall clinic operations by maintaining patient flow and completing additional duties assigned by the Clinical Manager.
- Certification as a Surgical Assistant or relevant training in surgical assisting preferred.
- Experience in an oral surgery, dental surgery, or medical surgical setting strongly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, physicians, and team members.
- Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, sterilization procedures, and operating room protocols.
- Excellent attention to detail, ability to multitask, and maintain focus in a high-pressure environment.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to work collaboratively with surgeons, nurses, and staff.
- Ability to follow strict infection control and safety guidelines.
- Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and compassionate care.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Frequent bending, twisting, and physical movement.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Capability to physically assist patients, including lifting, pulling, and supporting.
- Ability to maintain a firm grip on instruments for extended periods (up to one hour).
- Manual dexterity to frequently grasp, hold, adjust, and manipulate instruments.
- High school diploma or equivalent required, with relevant certifications preferred.
- Prior experience in surgical assisting or a related healthcare role preferred.
- Dental assisting and/or surgical assisting certification preferred.
- Current DAANCE, Nitrous Oxide (N₂O), and CPR certifications required
