Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and organized Activity Assistant to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in our assisted living and memory care facilities. The ideal candidate will have experience in senior care, particularly with individuals living with Alzheimer’s, dementia, or other cognitive impairments. This role is essential in enhancing the quality of life for our residents through recreational therapy and social engagement.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and implement a variety of activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
- Facilitate group and individual activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation.
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to create personalized activity plans for each resident.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and progress in activities.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to foster a supportive environment.
- Provide support for special events and outings, ensuring all logistics are managed efficiently.
- Engage with residents to encourage participation while being sensitive to their individual needs.
- Caregiver or float when needed
Requirements
- Previous experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or long-term care settings is preferred.
- Familiarity with Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, memory care, or working with people with disabilities is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with residents, families, and team members.
- Background in recreational therapy or social work is a plus.
- Ability to manage schedules effectively while being flexible to meet the needs of residents.
- Knowledge of aging issues counseling is beneficial.
