Position Summary

The Program Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations of person-centered day program services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role provides staff supervision, supports participant engagement and safety, ensures documentation and regulatory compliance, and assists with program development, training, and service delivery to promote meaningful participation and quality outcomes

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

Participant Programming/Activity Services

  • Ensure the quality and consistency of participant programming through ongoing monitoring and evaluation.
  •  Design, develop and implement person-centered day program activities that promote engagement, independence, and meaningful participation.
  • Develops and prepares the daily zoom class including topics, creating participant-focused content, any related activities and facilitates class when needed. 
  • Supervise activity implementation to ensure meaningful participation and maximum benefit for participants. 
  • Ensure necessary equipment and supplies are available for participant programming; initiate purchases as needed. 
  • Recommends appropriate modifications to participant programming to meet individual needs in collaboration with the Program Director. 
  • Provide direct services to participants as needed, including coverage during staffing shortages. 
  • Provide one-on-one support to participants when required.
  • Develop and implement individual and group activities based on participants’ needs, abilities, and interests. 
  • Develop and implement participant schedules with guidance from Program Director.
  • Modify activities to address safety, engagement, or participant needs as appropriate.

 

Staff Supervision and Training

  • Provide direct supervision and leadership to Direct Support Professionals which includes providing coaching, counseling, and corrective action, including recommendations for termination when necessary.
  • Train Direct Support Professionals on the implementation and documentation of individual participant programs. 
  • Complete all required documentation including Therap reports, billing reports, daily reports and incident reports.
  • Provide crisis management assistance to staff when needed.
  • Train staff on abuse reporting requirements and how to complete required forms (SOC 341)
  • Conduct site checks in the community.


Administrative Responsibilities

  • Review participant records to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance. 
  • Prepare activity materials and assist with daily program setup. 
  • Provide coverage for any Program Supervisor as needed.
  • Prepare and distribute daily report

 

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities preferred; experience supporting non-ambulatory and/or behaviorally challenged individuals preferred
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience supervising and training staff required. 
  • Experience planning, developing and implementing person-centered activities in day program service. 

 

Licensing Requirements

  • 21 years of age
  • Valid California Class B Driver’s License for at least 3 years with an acceptable driving record.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
  • Strong leadership and staff management skills.
  • Ability to maintain positive staff morale.
  • Ability to interpret and apply regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently.
  • Ability to work within budgetary guidelines.
  • Ability to use computers and have basic computer proficiency, including use of the THERAP system, Microsoft office applications such as Word and Excel, and virtual platforms such as Zoom.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Must complete training on dietary procedures including participant feeding guidelines and choking prevention.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently.
  • Ability to push wheelchairs and assist individuals with mobility needs.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a vehicle.
  • Ability to bend, reach, and assist passengers during loading and unloading.

 

Pre-Employment Requirements

Employment is contingent upon:

  • Successful drug and alcohol screening
  • Acceptable driving record and license verification
  • Background check in accordance with state regulations


Work Environment

The Program Supervisor is a Position requires availability Monday- Friday 7:30 am-4:00 PM
