Mountain Sage Community School – Fort Collins, CO
Mountain Sage Community School is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as a School Nurse Consultant during the school year. This is an ideal opportunity for a nurse looking for flexible, meaningful work supporting a small K–8 charter school.
This is an extremely part-time position (approximately 5–10 hours per month). Most work can be completed remotely through phone and email, with occasional on-site visits as needed.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing consultation and oversight for the school's Health Technician in collaboration with the School Director.
- Conduct occasional on-site visits and be available by phone or email for consultation throughout the school year.
- Delegate medication administration to trained staff in accordance with Colorado Nurse Practice Act requirements.
- Develop, review, and update Individual Health Care Plans and emergency care plans for students with medical needs.
- Review health documentation and provide guidance for students with chronic health conditions.
- Assist with annual vision and hearing screening oversight.
- Support communicable disease management and school health protocols.
- Provide guidance regarding student health concerns, emergency response procedures, and health office best practices.
- Serve as a resource for staff, families, healthcare providers, and community agencies.
- Participate in 504 and IEP meetings when health expertise is needed.
- Consult on school health policies, procedures, and compliance with state nursing requirements.
Schedule & Compensation
- Approximately 5–10 hours per month during the school year.
- Flexible schedule with a combination of remote work and occasional on-site visits.
- Hourly compensation based on experience.
This is a 1099 independent contractor position and is not eligible for employee benefits.

Requirements
Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Colorado.
- Current CPR certification.
- Experience in school nursing, pediatric nursing, community health, or public health preferred.
- Knowledge of Colorado school health regulations and nurse delegation requirements.
- Excellent communication, organization, and collaborative problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
