Mountain Recreation is seeking a responsible and positive individual to operate the concession stand during the summer season at the Eagle Pool and Ice Rink (May–August). This role involves preparing and selling food and beverages, handling cash transactions, managing inventory, maintaining a clean and organized concession area, and reconciling cash at the end of each shift. The ideal candidate has strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and a friendly, professional demeanor, helping create a welcoming experience for all guests.

POSITION DETAILS

Job Title: Concessions Attendant

Location: Eagle Pool and Ice Rink (Eagle, CO)

Employment Type: Part-Time, Seasonal

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Overtime Eligible)

Schedule: Work hours and days may vary and may include weekends and holiday shifts.

Supervision Required: Works under the supervision of the Eagle Pool and Ice Rink Facility Supervisor and Facility Coordinator

Supervision Exercised: None

Work Environment and Physical Demands: This position primarily operates in a fast-paced concession area at Eagle Pool and Ice Rink. Employees may be exposed to hot and cold temperatures, food preparation equipment, and outdoor elements. The role requires standing for extended periods, occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds, bending, reaching, and frequent movement throughout the concession area. Work hours and days may vary, including some holidays.

Salary: $16.28 – $20.35/hour DOE; staff in this position are eligible for a $1/hour incentive for Spanish/English bilingual and can pass the language competency test.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General Statement of Duties: Responsible for the overall operation of the concession stand. Duties include, but are not limited to, preparing and selling food and beverages, operating the cash register, managing concession inventory, and maintaining cleanliness in the concession area and surrounding spaces.

Examples of Duties:

  • Create a welcoming environment for guests and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Greet patrons as they enter the facility, wearing the appropriate uniform and nametag.
  • Handle cashier duties, including processing sales, balancing cash, maintaining records, and making deposits.
  • Sell food and beverages while providing information about menu items.
  • Answer customer questions regarding fees, programs, and offerings.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the concession area and monitor the concession cart to ensure a tidy and organized environment.
  • Keep food preparation areas and equipment, such as the sno-cone machine and nacho dispenser, in good working condition.
  • Ensure the safety of patrons and assist in emergency situations.
  • Report any hazardous conditions or maintenance issues to a supervisor.
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required. Perform light maintenance duties, including sweeping, mopping, wiping counters, and picking up towels, to ensure a clean and orderly concession area.
  • Complete special projects and assist in other areas as needed.

Requirements:


COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Considerable knowledge of: Operating a cash register, handling cash transactions accurately, and counting money to make change.

Skills and abilities:

  • Knowledge of cash register operations and cash handling, including the ability to accurately count money and make change.
  • General knowledge of recreation, sports, physical fitness, and leisure activities.
  • Strong customer service and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Experience using concession equipment, including concession carts with propane tanks, sno-cone machines, nacho dispensers, and pizza ovens.

Requirements:

Education and experience:

  • Be 14 years of age or older; AND
  • Currently attending high school, or high school graduate or equivalent; AND
  • Previous customer service experience; OR
  • Any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the above-described duties.
  • Spanish and English bilingual preferred

Certifications:

  • May require possession of or ability to obtain a valid First Aid/CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
