Your Role

The Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) Officer is a specialized compliance professional responsible for ensuring that a financial institution meets its legal obligation to serve the credit needs of its entire local community, including low- and moderate-income (LMI) neighborhoods. The CRA Officer is responsible for compliance with regulations related to the Community Reinvestment Act and maintaining the Bank’s Satisfactory or better CRA rating. This position plays a critical role in development, implementation, and administration of the Bank’s CRA Program and supports the overall Compliance Management System. This position is scalable and may evolve as the Bank grows in size and complexity.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes the annual CRA performance plan, including coordination of internal partners and community organizations within the Bank’s assessment areas.
  • Manages CRA data integrity including CRA loans, Community Development loans, qualified investments, donations, and CRA service hours.
  • Leads and coordinates CRA Committee meetings; prepares agendas, materials, and minutes.
  • Maintains and updates the CRA Public File in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provides training and guidance to bank staff regarding CRA requirements, community development opportunities, and regulatory expectations.
  • Conducts ongoing monitoring and performance analysis; provides management with timely reporting of CRA position and identified gaps to ensure the bank maintains a Satisfactory or higher CRA rating.
  • Maintains relationships with community organizations, economic development groups, and housing organizations to identify community credit needs.
  • Serves as primary CRA contact during regulatory examinations and independent audits; coordinates responses and corrective action plans.
  • Identifies and evaluates community development opportunities and strategic partnerships.
  • Prepares written reports including findings, analyses, conclusions, and recommendations for Executive Management and the Board.
  • Supports enterprise risk assessments and identifies/escalates compliance risk through the Bank’s ERM framework.
  • Participates in internal committees, audits, and examinations as required.


Secondary Responsibilities – Compliance Support

  • Supports lending compliance programs, including HMDA, ECOA, RESPA, TILA, Fair Lending, and related regulations.
  • Assists with compliance monitoring, quality control testing, and regulatory change management.
  • Participates in preparation for regulatory examinations and internal audits.
  • Assists with policy and procedure development and updates.
  • Supports broader Compliance Management System initiatives as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


What You'll Bring

  • Demonstrated CRA experience in a community bank or regulated financial institution.
  • Strong knowledge of CRA regulatory requirements and Interagency Examination Procedures.
  • Enterprise Risk Management experience preferred.
  • Experience interacting with regulators during examinations.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Well-organized and detail oriented.


Required Education and Experience

  • 3 or more years of demonstrated strong CRA performance experience.
  • 7 or more years of related financial institution or regulatory experience.
  • CRCM certification preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.


Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to remain in a stationary position and operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a multi-line telephone, copy machine, scanner, fax, and computer printer. The employee needs to frequently communicate with internal and external contacts and move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.


Work Environment

  • Climate controlled business office environment.
  • Ability to work in artificial light for extended periods of time.
  • Noise level is usually moderate.
  • Work involves being able to concentrate on the matter at hand, under sometimes distracting work conditions and frequent interruptions during the day.
  • This is a full-time, in-person position: Monday through Friday; 40 hours per week.
  • Work requires regular attendance, punctuality, and adherence to an agreed-upon schedule with willingness to work a flexible and/or rotating schedule and/or extended hours, as needed.


Travel Required

  • Occasional (5%-10%) local, non-overnight travel.
  • Occasional (1-2 per year) domestic travel to industry-specific conferences.

Job Type: Full-time in person

Pay: $75,000 to $100,000
