Mountain Laurel Waldorf School is seeking a dedicated and engaging Middle School Math Teacherto join our faculty. This is a part-time position working with students in grades 6 through 8, teaching mathematics in a way that is both academically rigorous and aligned with Waldorf pedagogy.

Mountain Laurel Waldorf School, located in the beautiful village of New Paltz, New York, has been serving children and families since 1983. Our school offers a rich Waldorf curriculum from Early Childhood through Grade 8, dedicated to nurturing imagination, intellectual curiosity, and social responsibility. We are a vibrant, creative, and collaborative faculty working together to support the healthy development of each child in a warm and inclusive community.
Responsibilities
- Teach math classes for grades 6–8, aligned with Waldorf curriculum principles.
- Present lessons that inspire curiosity, clarity, and confidence in mathematical thinking.
- Develop lesson plans that integrate conceptual understanding, practice, and real-world application.
- Assess and document student progress; provide feedback to students and parents as needed.
- Collaborate with class teachers and colleagues to support the whole-child approach of Waldorf education.
- Participate in relevant faculty meetings and contribute to the life of the school as appropriate for a part-time position.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in mathematics or education preferred.
- Waldorf teacher training or a strong interest in Waldorf education is preferred.
- Prior experience teaching math to middle school students is desirable.
- Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
- A warm, thoughtful, and creative approach to working with adolescents.
Compensation
Compensation is commensurate with experience and education. Mountain Laurel Waldorf School offers a collegial and supportive environment grounded in the principles of Waldorf education.
