What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Technologist (MLT, MT,) FT (Weekend Evenings) position at Mountain Lakes Medical Center?
Mountain Lakes Medical Center is located in Clayton, Georgia in Rabun County. We are in need of a full time position for a Medical Lab Tech or Medical Tech for our Lab Department.
JOB SUMMARY
Works under the supervision of a Medical Technologist and performs laboratory testing consistent with Quality Improvement measures and maintains assigned areas in sanitary conditions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
Performs routine testing and reporting as evidenced by:
Follows policy and procedure manual guidelines for performing various tests and collections as evidenced by monitoring of completed lab slips periodically by designated Technologist.
Follows Quality Control methods as evidence by observation of supervisor.
Assists in maintaining instrument logs and performs adequate periodic maintenance procedures evidence by monitoring logs.
Uses prescribed sterile techniques and observes isolation guides as set forth by Nursing Service and Hospital Policy and Safety manuals evidenced by maintaining rapport with Nursing Service, physicians, and other hospital departments to expedite the hospital’s mission.
Performs satisfactory collection of specimens and other tasks in the following sections of the Laboratory: Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Serology, Coagulation, and other areas as may be designated by their supervisor or evidenced by observation and monitoring.
Arrives to work on time, avoids unnecessary idle time, and generally adheres with Laboratory policy. Avoids situation that would require disciplinary actions or Incident Reports requiring intervention by their supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/TRAINING
American Medical Technologist (AMT)
National Certification Association (NCA)
Foreign National Certification that is acceptable to the state and other agencies.
Maintain adequate Continuing Education Requirements as mandated.
Current BLS certification required.

PHYSICAL WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Normally works in a well-lighted, well-ventilated area.
Must be able to work under stress.
Normal, or corrected vision and hearing.
Standing at short intervals and long periods.
Moderate to heavy physical exertion and lifting.
Must be able to work in conditions that normally exist in a hospital.
SPECIAL DEMANDS:
Excellent communication, listening, speaking, and writing skills.
Proactive development of innovative changes to meet current hospital expectations.
HAZARDOUS WORKING CONDITIONS
May require handling of biologically unclean or infectious materials.
May require contact with strong cleaning and disinfecting solutions such as liquid bleach.,
Isolation techniques and procedures may be required
