Certificates and License:
Active Tennessee license as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse
Prefer two years of outpatient clinical experience.
Full Time Position Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Essential Functions
- Interviews patients to determine medical problem or condition, assessment includes obtaining vital signs and list of current medications.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals as a member of the interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of patient care in teaching, education, follow up orders for medications and treatment (including indigent care applications).
- Documents all interactions with patient and recognizes, responds, and reports of any pertinent information to the provider.
- Performs telephone triage, medication refills, and patient education on abnormal diagnostics or lab results per provider orders.
- Administers specified medication as ordered by the provider. Injections limited to the licensed nurse includes Toradol and Insulin. Document all medications administered in the electronic health record.
- Refill medications per provider protocols.
- Perform indicated lab tests accurately as ordered by provider
- Serve as clinical resource for projects within the clinic and in the community.
- Assists in inventory of and ordering of pharmaceutical supplies and other medical supplies as needed.
- Adheres to safety and infection control guidelines and HIPAA protocols.
- Maintains quality checks on testing instruments and other equipment.
- Participates in Quality Improvement Activities, Quality Assurance, and Risk Management to ensure quality care for patients.
- Facilitates the highest quality of care and efficient flow in a team based environment.
- Other duties as assigned or as needed to assist other team members.
