JOB SUMMARY: The Kitchen/Administrative Assistant works closely with Kitchen Manager in daily meal preparation, distribution and related activities of the central kitchen in compliance with established policies and guidelines. Assists in monitoring the working condition of all kitchen equipment and may help arrange for service as appropriate. Helps with bi-annual inventory, dispatching meals and supplies. Assists with maintaining clean, safe and orderly environment in supply room, kitchen and freezer. Assists Nutrition Director with administrative duties. Performs other MEOC duties as assigned. Exhibits Agency values in the work place and in the community.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists the Central Kitchen Manager in the following activities:
- Maintain clean, safe and orderly environment in supply room kitchen and freezer
- Monitor freezer, cooler, and food temperatures
- Clean work surfaces, sweep and mop floors, and remove trash
- Clean freezer, refrigerator, and insulated carriers as needed
- Monitor supply and food inventories and rotate stock as needed
- Oversee and assist with unloading meals and other supply deliveries as needed. Check and sign orders as unloaded. Note any discrepancies or problems and give all invoices and receipts to supervisor.
- Prepare meals and supply orders for delivery
- Other tasks as needed
Assists the Nutrition Director in the following activities:
- Assist with making copies, preparing mailings, making/answering phone calls
- Organizing events, scheduling meetings
- Scanning documents, uploading digital files
- Maintaining spreadsheets, preparing files
- Other tasks as needed
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Kitchen/Administrative Assistant position requires good interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to interact positively with co-workers, elderly clients and their families and community service providers. He/She must be knowledgeable of computers and other office equipment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: N/A
QUALIFICATIONS:
The Kitchen Assistant must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent and must be able to read, write and interpret policies and procedures and follow/dispense oral or written directions. Strong communication skills and the ability to deal with a variety of people face-to-face or by phone are required. The position requires a self-starter who can perform job duties with a minimum of supervision. Excellent record keeping and reporting skills are essential. Must be able to obtain ServSafe manager certification. Computer skills required include the ability to use email, spreadsheets, word processing software, scanner, and other equipment.
WORK SCHEDULE: Part-time up to 30 hours per week
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Lifting, bending, stooping and arranging or carrying items up to 30 pounds over short distances are required on occasion. Frequent exposure to marked changes in temperature is a condition of the job.
