What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tie Dye Craftsperson position at Mountain Dye Studio?
Mountain Dye Studio is a 35-year old company that creates and manufactures unique, high-quality tie-dyed apparel. We make the most colorful shirts in the world for retailers, bands, well-known companies, fashion houses and more.
We are looking for a full-time, results-driven and dependable Tie Dye Craftsperson to join our team. Our Tie Dye Craftspeople typically spend the morning preparing that day’s garments, and the afternoon dyeing those garments. Core responsibilities include:
- Winding/preparation of garments
- Applying dye to garments, following one of our 650 patterns or instructions for custom designs
- Transferring dyed garments to curing racks
- As time permits, assisting other team members with washing, folding, and/or shipping of garments.
A new Tie Dye Craftsperson will work closely with and be trained by senior Tie Dye Craftspeople. The ideal candidate is proactive and interested in learning so they can manage their work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced production environment. Pay starts at $17 per hour, with automatic increases tied to learning our craft and consistently meeting clear daily production benchmarks. (On average, most employees increase their hourly rate to the $19 range within a few months.)
We value a strong attention to detail. A Tie Dye Craftsperson may work on multiple designs each day and will need the ability to ensure the correct dye color and dye application is used so that each project passes quality control and we avoid unnecessary remakes. It is also important to have a team mindset, as we work together to ensure each day’s production is achieved, remakes are completed as needed, and customer orders are shipped when promised.
Over time we cross-train our Craftspeople to become proficient in all aspects of production (dye-making, garment prep, dyeing, folding and shipping), so flexibility and curiosity are appreciated.
Our hours are 7AM to 3:30PM, Monday through Friday, with some ability to customize your schedule if needed. We offer paid time off and a friendly, informal environment where we treat everyone with respect.
