Speech-Language Pathologist - Contract Position
Mountain Discovery Charter School is looking for a part time Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) as an independent contractor. This is open untilled filled.
General Description
The Speech-Language Pathologist will provide services that meet the requisite standard established by the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association AND the State of North Carolina Board of Examiners in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology (and any minimum standards set by the facility for such personnel); arrange convenient appointment times for intervention, communication with families, and follow-up services; initiate communication with other service providers and teachers to assure continuity of care; and provide all diagnostic screening, evaluations and treatments as set forth by the facility and utilizing approved forms of documentation.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Current North Carolina SLP license
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Duties and Responsibilities
- Works closely with teachers and staff to ensure that MDCS is in compliance with all Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and to work with students one-on-one or in small groups
- Responsible for creating a positive environment for their students, implementing curriculum, assessing students, building relationships with our families, collaborating with their team and other duties, as assigned
- Provide speech and language therapy special education services to students in groups and as individuals per their Individual Education Plans
- Provide intervention to students through response to intervention including individual, small groups and/or classroom intervention
- Attend IEP meetings, write progress summaries on present levels of performance, and proposed IEP goals
- Assist and guide teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments
- Provide appropriate individualized programs of therapy to meet individual students' needs and correct existing speech or language impairments
- Keep thorough records for each student receiving therapy or other school-provided speech-language services
- Conduct speech, language, and hearing screenings
- Conduct speech/language evaluations if necessary
