Kindergarten Teacher
Mountain Discovery Charter School is looking for a highly qualified kindergarten teacher to challenge students by providing a rigorous and caring learning environment for the 2026-2027 school year. General Description
The Kindergarten Teacher shall report directly to the Co-Directors and under direction shall assume responsibility of instructing students in data-based reading strategies using the Science of Reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar, spelling, math, science and social studies while creating a positive, engaging and nurturing environment for experiential learning. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated successful experience in project-based instruction, effective teaching of lower-elementary literacy and numeracy, a natural aptitude for cultivating relationships with students and families, and significant knowledge of data-driven and differentiated instruction. LETRS training desired or willingness to earn LETRS certification.
Minimum Qualifications
- Possess and maintain a valid North Carolina teaching license in or related to the area of assigned responsibility.
- Experience in lower elementary classroom teaching.

- Ability to work collaboratively with all staff members.
- Ability to plan and implement experiential learning activities.
- Ability to follow vertical alignment, but show independence to adapt material to your teaching style.
- Experience and/or knowledge of Experiential Learning models.
- Demonstrate competence in communicating effectively with children, teachers, staff, and other agencies.
- Possess specialized skills, experience, and training in the areas of instructional methodologies, curriculum design/modification, demonstration teaching and staff development.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and experience with state model curriculum frameworks, curriculum guides and other exemplary instructionally-related resources.
- Experience or knowledge of effective, evidenced-based Phonics instruction.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Create differentiated lessons based on students’ individual needs.
- Collaborate with Exceptional Children’s Teachers on current lessons, pacing, programs, and services to students.
- Assists in conducting student needs assessments.
- Design instructional materials and sample lessons consistent grade levels assigned.
- Participates on school committees as assigned.
- Cooperatively engage in the professional evaluation process with the supervisor to ensure ongoing professional growth and competence.
- Effectively communicates with staff, parents and agencies.
- Attend all staff meetings and actively participates as a member of the educational team.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
