- Design and implement a comprehensive data governance framework, including policies, standards, procedures, and governance technology.
- Recommend and support organizational Master Data Management (MDM) methodologies.
- Facilitate and contribute to the organizational data governance committee, ensuring alignment with business and technology objectives.
- Lead requirements gathering and development of processes and technologies for data governance.
- Document and apply data management and data risk assessment methods and technologies.
- Conduct data-related risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
- Monitor and support enforcement of data governance policies and standards through effective controls.
- Provide guidance and subject matter expertise to data stewards and other governance roles.
- Develop and deliver training and awareness programs to promote data governance best practices.
- Support data quality initiatives and ensure data integrity across the organization in collaboration with stakeholders and system administrators.
- Partner with IT and other departments to integrate data governance requirements into systems and processes.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices in data governance and risk management and share insights with stakeholders.
- Familiarity and Experience with Risk and Control Self Assessments (RCSAs), Remediation Plans (RPs), risk and control assessment, and a variety of other risk and governance skills in a financial institution environment.
- Perform rated duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, business administration, or a related field.
- 8 years of progressive experience in data governance, data management, or related disciplines, including direct experience in implementing governance frameworks, data quality initiatives, or metadata management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
- Experience contributing to or facilitating data governance committees or working groups.
- Proven track record of developing and applying data governance policies, standards, and procedures in a increasingly complex organizational environment.
- Strong understanding of data lifecycle management, data stewardship, and regulatory compliance (e.g., GLBA, GDPR, CCPA).
- Experience with data quality assessment, metadata cataloging, and data lineage tools.
- Banking or financial services experience preferred.
- Data governance or data management certifications are a plus
- Proficiency in data architecture and data management.
- Familiarity with software and data development methodologies and technologies.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Proficiency in analytical and data visualization tools.
- Experience with data management and/or governance, risk, and compliance tools. (e.g. Archer, ServiceNow, etc.)
- Ability to clearly express complex ideas, methodologies, results, and recommendations verbally, in writing, and through visualizations.
- Skilled in documenting outcomes and presenting information to stakeholders at all levels.
- Creative thinker and problem solver who leverages data and technology to create efficient, robust enterprise data governance processes.
- Proven ability to build credibility and influence across senior levels of an organization.
- Self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Adaptive to change and able to respond positively to evolving circumstances.
- Experience with risk management and compliance in a financial services environment.
