Advertising Sales Representative

Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated Advertising Sales Representative to sell advertising space in our weekly newspaper as well as digital advertising on our website and social media channels. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships with local businesses, understands the value of community-based marketing, and is comfortable selling both traditional and digital advertising solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Sell print advertising space in the weekly newspaper to new and existing clients
- Promote and sell digital advertising options, including website banner ads, sponsored content, and social media advertising
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with local businesses, organizations, and agencies
- Prospect for new advertisers through cold calling, networking, and community involvement
- Create customized advertising packages that combine print and digital platforms
- Work with clients to understand their marketing goals and recommend effective advertising solutions
- Prepare advertising proposals, rate quotes, and insertion orders
- Coordinate with editorial, design, and production staff to ensure ads run accurately and on schedule
- Follow up with advertisers to ensure satisfaction and encourage repeat business
- Track sales activity and maintain accurate client records
Qualifications
- Previous sales experience preferred; advertising or media sales experience is a plus
- Strong communication, negotiation, and customer service skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Comfortable using email, basic computer applications, and social media platforms
- Familiarity with digital advertising and social media marketing is preferred (training available)
- Knowledge of the local community and business landscape is a plus
- Reliable transportation for local sales calls
