What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Account Booth Representative position at Mount Vernon Neighborhood health Center?
- Complete new patient registration by entering demographic data into the Practice Management System (PMS)
- Complete insurance verification of patient insurance and enter the information on the patient account.
- Scan supporting documents to patient account.
- Patients with no insurance advise patients on how to apply.
- Update patient demographic information as necessary.
- Enters new Insurance information for patients into the PMS.
- Update patient account with name change
- Update patient sliding fee.
- Explain to patient sliding fee and details about co-pays, deductibles, co-insurance, and non-covered services.
- Observe the waiting room to ensure patients are not waiting for extended time.
- Complete patient payment arrangement for current and standing balance.
- Collect patient payments.
- Arrive/check-in patient in the PMS.
- Performs other related clerical tasks to ensure effective operation of the assigned area.
- Provide coverage as needed for other areas within the department.
- Perform other tasks/duties as assigned or requested.
- Working knowledge and experience of entering data into computer systems.
- At least six months to one year of related healthcare and health insurance experience.
- Experience providing customer or client services.
- Strong communication skills including experience in writing, answering phone calls, and speaking.
- Basic math and organizational skills for paperwork and data management.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks at one time and make quick decisions.
- Experience working with patients.
- Graduation from a standard high school or General Equivalent Diploma.
