Head Varsity Softball Coach
Mount St. Mary Academy, an all-girls Catholic High School in Kenmore, NY (near Buffalo, NY) is seeking a Varsity Softball Coach for the Spring 2025 season.
The Head Varsity Coach will report to the Director of Athletics. Responsibilities will include all aspects of coaching and student development, as well as leadership, vision and supervision of the Softball program. See detail below.
The coaching stipend is paid out during the spring season. Pay will be in range of $1400.00 every other week (pre-tax) Interested candidates should attach a cover letter and resume addressed to Sam Frank, Director of Athletics by Friday, July 19, 2024.
Essential Job Functions
- Perform key program planning functions for assigned team or teams, in conjunction with
the mission and culture of Mount St. Mary Academy and in consultation with the Director
of Athletics.
- Serve as a professional educator for all student-athletes, encouraging individuals as well
as team goal setting, acknowledging individual challenges and achievements,
encouraging academic achievement and positive social interactions at all times.
- Carry out various team development tasks, including: generating on-campus
participants, conditioning of athletes, monitoring academic and personal development.
- Plan and carry out team practice sessions, coach team during contests, modeling good
sportsmanship and positive social interactions at all times.
- Prepare facilities for practices and home contests and arrange travel for away games.
- Participate in various athletic and school promotional and fundraising efforts.
- Observe safety requirements. Report safety issues to supervisor or security.
- Possess the demeanor to deal effectively with students, parents, and other high school
coaches.
- Work collaboratively with other campus units (e.g. Budget/Finance, Event Services,
Admissions, Student Life, and Development)
Professional Expectations:
- Be in compliance with the Diocese of Buffalo and “Protecting God’s Children” modules and all employment training required by the Academy
- Demonstrated excellence with interpersonal communications (written and oral) skills and
the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment is necessary.
- Attention to detail and accuracy; customer service oriented and able to establish and
maintain positive working relationships with high school staff, fellow coaches and
campus and external entities.
- Must be comfortable working in a team environment with a positive attitude.

Preferred Experience:
- 3-5 years high school coaching experience is preferred or a combination of education
and playing experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
- Certifications appropriate to the relevant sport, division, or other regulating agency.
- Basic knowledge and skills related to high school athletic programs, with demonstrated
skills in assigned team sports.
