Mount Sinai South Nassau provides a salary range in good faith determination of potential compensation to comply with the New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. Summary:
The Nursing Professional Development Specialist (NPDS) is a registered professional nurse who assumes responsibility for implementing and providing evidence-based, quality educational programs and activities which promote individual development and competency among nursing department personnel. Working collaboratively with nursing leadership and other members of the health care team, the NPDS upholds the mission, vision, philosophy, goals and standards of the system, organization and patient care services department to promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

Education Required
- Must complete in-house orientation program
- Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Professional Nursing. Bachelors required (BSN Preferred) and Masters Degrees required (Masters in Education Preferred).
- Completes annual mandatory in-service education (Hospital/Nursing).
Experience And Skills
- Speaks, reads and writes English
- Clinical experience and/or skills relevant to assigned area of practice.
- One year as a staff educator in a hospital setting preferred.
- Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Highly developed skills in leadership, public relations, teambuilding, problem solving, decision-making, conflict management, and critical thinking.
- Computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, LMS).
License/Certifications
- Current and valid New York State registration authorizing practice as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN).
- Certifications required for assigned area of practice:
- BLS (all nurses)
- ACLS (nurses working in specified areas/units)
- CPI (Educators working in working in ED or D4)
- Nursing Professional Development (ANCC) or appropriate clinical/specialty certification preferred
