Description

Job Description

Under direct supervision, performs routine maintenance checks of equipment, responsible for the glassware facility and also performs routine checks regarding standard operating procedures of all laboratories; also provides support services for research labs.

Responsibilities

  • Daily washing, sterilization, replacement of glassware and cleaning of glassware bins
  • Routine maintenance of autoclave machine, ice machine and dark room as needed
  • Generate engineering requests for labs and Linear Equipment Room areas (for repairs, light bulb changes, outlet changes and installations, sink/plumbing repairs, etc.)
  • Assists with other engineering requests for outlet installation or other as needed.
  • Prepares purchase orders for lab supplies, lab maintenance and equipment repair as needed.
  • Laundry drop-off and pick-up for lab coats
  • Ensures that lab safety protocols are adhered to in Core lab spaces according to Environmental Health & Safety standards (including sharps bins, eye wash and all other safety protocols)
  • Handles receiving of packages, picks up and distributes all mail
  • Monitors report for dry ice usage and deliveries
  • Monitoring –80 freezer units housed in linear equipment rooms as needed. Installs temperature monitors for all -80, -20 freezers and deli fridges.
  • Covers lab glassware tech in Icahn when out
  • Responsible for checking the CO2 and Nitrogen tanks, and dark room in Icahn when Associate Researcher is out.
  • Handles environmental disposal of equipment.
  • Maintenance of the perfusion room keeps clean and discards all biohazards.
  • Handles tagging of all asset inventory for department of Neuroscience and FBI.
  • Performs other related duties

Qualifications

  • HS/GED
  • Two years of related laboratory experience preferred

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $16.5 - $22 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
