Position Qualifications

• Performs and documents Quality Control as assigned. Ensures that the morgue refrigerator temperatures are taken and then supervisor/director notified of problems.
• Demonstrate proficiency in operating and troubleshooting equipment.
• Verifies that remains are tagged, wrapped and stored appropriately, notifying the supervisor of when problems are found.
• Documents release of remains to funeral homes or medical examiner.
• Communicates delays with nursing office and pathology about autopsy procedures.
• Prepares body for post mortem procedure. Ensures that patient remains are stored appropriately post-mortem to minimize body fluid spills.
• Ensures that surgical specimens are maintained for appropriate period of time and in an organized manner.
• Photographs / documents implants per department protocol.
• Performs biophotography of remains as needed.
• Utilizes special precautions in high-risk infectious disease cases.
• Assists in training new residents or staff as assigned.
• Maintain minimum inventory of reagents / supplies.
• Cleans / decontaminates workstation and equipment per department infection control protocol
• Follow department protocol with regards to safe disposal of chemicals and bio-hazardous waste.
  
  

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 2 years experience with autopsy assistance, medical examiner or mortuary
