Social Work Services at the Mount Sinai Hospital    

The Mount Sinai Hospital is a 1,134-bed facility with an extensive outpatient and specialty care network and is the largest hospital in the Mount Sinai Health Care System. Social Workers collaborate within interprofessional teams to serve patients and the larger community from both a micro and macro level including both direct care and prevention. Founded in 1907, the Department of Social Work Services at the Mount Sinai Hospital is one of the oldest hospital social work departments in the nation with over 450 licensed social workers employed across more than 65 different program/service areas. Employment in our department provides a pathway to LCSW licensure as well as access to a broad range of continuing education, professional development and extra-curricular opportunities.

• This is a full-time continuity care position (in and outpatient) working with patients and families affected by hematological malignancies, whose treatment plans often include bone marrow transplants. 

• There is a strong end of life component to this position and it is the social worker’s responsibility to support patients and families through this process. 
• The social worker conducts in-depth psychosocial assessments as part of a patient’s evaluation for transplant. 
• The social worker also provides counseling, support, psycho-education, and discharge and community planning services to patients and families.  
• This social worker will be an active participant in the development of psychosocial services for oncology patients.  
• The social worker will also be expected to run support programs. Responsibilities include coverage of other oncology social workers.

• NYS LMSW/LCSW. 
• Experience providing psychosocial services to patients with cancer.
• Experience working with end-of-life issues preferred.
• Skills in conducting in-depth psychosocial assessment and focused, short-term treatment.
• Excellent clinical, collaborative, time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to develop psychosocial services.
• Discharge planning experience preferred.
• Internal applicants: Minimum one year in current position.

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $58,656.00 - $97,760.36 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
