Senior Health Systems and Process Improvement Engineer -Health System Operations-Full-Time-Days -Hybrid

The Senior Health Systems and Process Improvement Engineer supports, develops, and executes projects coordinated by the Office of Strategic and Business planning. Reporting to the Director of Health Systems and Process Improvement at The Mount Sinai Health System, the Senior HSPI Engineer provides independent complex analytical and project management support to the systems hospitals staff and leadership. Utilizing a wide range of state of the art process improvement and industrial engineering methodologies including, but not limited to, statistical analysis, simulation and modeling, forecasting, quality control, operations research, human factors, lean/six sigma, facility planning, scheduling, and time/motion studies. This senior level individual assists senior level management in operating more efficiently and effectively, and serves as a technical leader for the Department of HSPI and mentors junior team members. In addition, this individual is responsible for developing and administering performance improvement training curriculum as part of The Mount Sinai Health Systems continuous improvement culture.


Responsibilities
  • Independently leads, designs, manages, and executes complex performance improvement initiatives through all phases utilizing core industrial engineering principles
  • Responsible for scoping performance improvement initiatives, acquiring stakeholder buy-in and leadership support, and establishing metrics and milestones
  • Creates and updates project plans, action items, and meeting minutes
  • Utilizes expertise in industrial engineering to appropriately identify the correct design and approach for initiatives and complex analytical problems
  • Independently Prepares highly complex feasibility studies to support new business developments and improvements
  • Coordinates data collection, analysis, and assessment through both physical observations and system reporting
  • Coordinates activities of Health Systems and Process Improvement team members supporting initiatives
  • Prepares documents and diagrams to illustrate findings. May present to all levels of staff and leadership
  • Performs independent complex data analysis to support leadership decision making. Types of data analysis include but are not limited to: process measures and performance metrics, scheduling, labor and productivity, quality measures, patient satisfaction measures, and demographic analysis
  • Develops effective and trusting working relationships with all levels of staff including but not limited to front line staff, administrators, and physician leaders.
  • May create and administer didactic training curriculum on performance improvement tools. May administer training to all levels of the organization
  • Provides technical direction and support to all levels of the Health Systems and Process Improvement department
  • Maintains current knowledge of health care delivery trends and evidence-based solutions for improving the delivery of care and services
  • May mentor junior member of the Health Systems and Process Improvement team
  • Strong proponent of and incorporates the use of more complex industrial engineering principles in systems and process improvement initiatives
  • May publish or present technical papers on process improvement work to share with industry
  • Performs other duties as required

Qualifications
  • Bachelors' degree in industrial engineering, or related field; Masters preferred.
  • 5 years experience in systems and process improvement operations management or similar field
  • Certification and/or working knowledge of Lean/ Six Sigma methodologies

 

Compensation Statement

 

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $96,461.00 - $130,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
