Description

The Peri op Support & Robotic Coordinator is responsible for supporting daily operations within the Operating Room, with a focus on robotic surgery coordination and instrument tray management. This role ensures surgical readiness through effective communication, proactive troubleshooting, and collaboration with surgical teams, sterile processing, and supply chain. The position plays a critical role in OR throughput, robotic case efficiency, and equipment maintenance, and serves as a liaison between clinical and support services.


 


Responsibilities

•    Coordinate and facilitate daily surgical case flow, ensuring efficient use of OR time, equipment, and instruments.
•    Serve as the primary point of contact for all robotic surgery cases, as well as other cases requiring troubleshooting and coordination.
•    Act as the primary liaison for robotic cases, ensuring timely setup, troubleshooting, and resource allocation.
•    Collaborate with Sterile Processing Department (SPD) to maintain tray integrity and address missing/damaged instruments.
•    Partner with the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) and Instrument Management teams to maintain robotic tray integrity and support additional instrument tray needs identified by Cluster Managers.
•    Monitor case progress throughout the day, proactively identifying and resolving delays or equipment and tray issues.
•    Provide in-room technical support for robotic equipment and escalate service needs when necessary.
•    Assist with reporting of defective surgical items and follow up with vendors and supply chain.
•    Communicate with surgeons, clinical staff, SPD runners, and leadership to streamline surgical workflow.
•    Participate in robotic program initiatives, including onboarding, training, and process improvement.
•    Monitor robotic platform maintenance status in partnership with Biomed and vendors.
•    Serve as a resource for instrumentation management, equipment logistics, and vendor coordination.
•    Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across all surgical services.
 


Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • NBSTA Certification Required 
  • Associate or bachelor?s degree in health sciences or related field preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in an Operating Room setting; robotic surgery experience highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with robotic surgical systems (e.g., Da Vinci) highly desirable.
  • Broad familiarity with multiple surgical service lines and strong knowledge of surgical instruments and trays.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt quickly in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with sterile processing, instrument management, and surgical support workflows.
  • Certification in robotic surgical technology or perioperative services preferred but not required.

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $78884 - $118326 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
