Licensed Practical Nurse-Urgent Care-New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai-Full Time, Night Shift

The practice of nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse is defined as performing tasks & responsibilities within the scope of supportive & restorative care; medication administration and specialized tasks under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse of licensed or otherwise legally authorized physician or dentist


Responsibilities
  • Delivers nursing care in structured & routine situations free of scientific complexity.
  • Assistance with activities of daily living.
  • Administration of treatments and routine tasks such as suctioning and urinary catheterizations.
  • Preparation of patient for surgery, diagnostic tests, treatments, examinations.
  • Administration of medications within scope of practice.
  • Identification and set up of intravenous equipment and delivery of solutions for infusion through peripheral access devices
  • Administer blood or blood products, with special training.
  • Reports pertinent observations, treatments, medications, incidents & accidents associated with patients, to the Registered Professional Nurse & records same on appropriate documents with the format of charting utilized in the unit.
  • Recognizes the unit based model for delivery of nursing care & assumes responsibility for assignments delegated by the Registered Professional Nurse such as: 1) Contributes to nursing care plan in collaboration with other members of nursing staff
  • Reinforces the patient/family teaching process identified by the RN
  • Provides emotional support to patients & their families/significant others
  • Assists with the rehabilitation of patients according to the nursing care plan
  • Provides for the physical comfort & safety of the patient
  • Contributes to patient care conferences Assists in Emergency Resuscitative Procedures by initiating a Team 7000 call, performing resuscitative procedures such as BCLS & carrying out other activities as directed by the team. Documents nursing care delivered on appropriate forms within the medical record.

Qualifications

Education Requirements                                                                                                                 

High School Diploma or GED 

 

Experience Requirements                                                                                                                

1 year as Licensed Practical nurse preferred

 

Licensing and Certification Requirements (if applicable)                                                           

Licensed and currently registered or otherwise duly authorized to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State.

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $32.6079 - $37.9391 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
