Description

Under the supervision of the Chief Occupational Therapist, this therapist is to evaluate patients both in the inpatient and outpatient settings in accordance with prescriptions provided by a physiatrist.

Responsibilities

  • Provides and documents patient care, completes medical documentation for the patient record and maintains daily statistics. Writes discharge notes upon completion of treatment plans as required.
  • Attends team conferences and rounds to report progress to attending physicians. Collaborates with patients, families, social services, etc. to plan home treatment program and/or follow-up care.
  • Recommends purchase of equipment and supplies for patients use as part of OT treatment.
  • Responsible for other duties designated by chief and asst. chief OT.
  • All staff are schedule to provide OT services on designated weekend and holiday coverage as mandated by Mt Sinai department services.
  • Attends in-service training conferences, seminars as part of continuing education requirement. Provide in-services training to new residents, students and entry level Occupational Therapists.
  • Responsible for Rehab Technicians.

Qualifications

  • Completion of New York State approved program in Occupational Therapy to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge of evaluation and treatments of physical and psycho-social dysfunction, orthotics, prosthetics, anatomy, neurology, physiology and kinesiology at a level normally attained via Master’s or Doctorate Degree.
  • At least five years clinical experience. Related therapist experience, either through clinical rotations or employment, preferably in large-scale healthcare organization in order to gain solid evaluation and treatment skills, good knowledge of therapy methods and demonstrate facility for effective interaction with interdisciplinary areas.
  • New York State registration required as Occupational Therapist.
  • Must have two certifications in a clinical specialty or should show strong interest in developing professional skills and expertise in two or more areas of specialization.
  • Basic MS Office Suite computer skills required.
  • Able to give the highest patient care.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with colleagues and patients.
  • Able to operate equipment and devices for patient care.

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $60.44 - $60.44 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
