Description

The new Center for Myocardial Research within the Cardiovascular Research Institute and Fuster Heart Hospital @ Mount Sinai in New York City is actively seeking dynamic and creative individuals for full-time, tenure-track faculty positions.

The successful candidate will be expected have an innovative research program in cardiovascular research with significant extramural funding (e.g., NIH etc.). Research target areas include cellular, molecular, and physiological myofilament biology, proteinopathies, structure, single molecule biophysics, gene therapy, etc. Candidates who perform research or are interested in investigating Duchenne dilated cardiomyopathy (Duchenne-DCM), are particularly encouraged to apply.

Mount Sinai Fuster Heart Hospital is ranked #2 in the nation for Cardiology, Heart & Vascular Surgery by U.S. News and World Report for 2025-2026. The Cardiovascular Research Institute (CVRI) is Mount Sinai’s hub for both fundamental and translational cardiovascular science, focusing on myofilament function, molecular basis of complex diseases, genomics, cardiac bioengineering, cardioimmunology, metabolism, genetics, neurocardiology, senescence/aging, circadian rhythm/sleep and large animal preclinical studies. Applicants bridging any of these disciplines are especially encouraged to apply. The newly formed Center for Myocardial Research within the CVRI is a fast-growing, highly interdisciplinary unit whose faculty make pivotal contributions to Mount Sinai’s mission of multidisciplinary and collaborative discovery through cross-cutting basic and applied/translational research. Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain an independent, well-funded, research program
  • Participate in the development and conduct of innovative and significant research
  • Publish in high-impact journals
  • Actively collaborate with Physicians in Mount Sinai Fuster Heart Hospital
  • Play an active role in training graduate and medical students, as well as postdoctoral and medical fellows
  • Participate in appropriate Institute events, including faculty meetings, seminars, and retreats

Qualifications

  • PhD and/or MD degree
  • Strong publication record, commensurate with level of experience
  • Significant funding

Preferred Qualifications

  • Impactful postdoctoral research experience
  • Active extramural research funding
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Multi-disciplinary, collaborative training and research
  • Establish cross-departmental research teams linking cardiac muscle investigators with electrophysiology physicians to study mechanisms of arrhythmogenesis and cardiomyopathy progression.

Assistant Professor level position: 125K to 175K

Associate Professor level position: 175K to 200K

Professor level position: 200K to 250K
