Mount Sinai Tisch Cancer Center Staten Island is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the full-time position of Certified Pharmacy Technician. Role offers an opportunity to work in a collaborative environment focused on patient care and professional growth. The Certified Pharmacy Technician prepares, under Mount Sinai Pharmacy guidelines, pharmacy orders for patient care areas, maintains adequate stock levels, reviews medical areas for expired drugs, maintains logs, and provides general assistance to pharmacists. Experience with compounding sterile products including hazardous drugs in compliance with USP 797 and 800 regulations is required. Scheduling is Monday through Friday, no weekends or holidays.

Responsibilities

1. Fills drug orders accurately.

2. Prepares all intravenous drugs (hazardous and non-hazardous) with patient label to be checked by pharmacist. In addition, will batch frequently used drugs as needed.

3. Maintains adequate drug and supply inventory levels in the pharmacy and does not overstock.

4. Reviews medication areas for expired drugs and supplies monthly. Rotates all drug products to maintain the maximum expiration and properly disposes of all expired products.

5. Maintains drug refrigerator temperature, cleanroom pressure, cleaning and other daily/weekly/monthly digital logs in pharmacy areas and nursing units.

6. Maintains Laminar Flow and Biological Safety Cabinets for usage.

7. Maintains the area in a neat and hygienic manner.

8. Properly disposes of drug waste, tubing and equipment according to MSH guidelines.

9. Order drugs then Receive and Invoice weekly in EPIC Willow.

10. Prepare monthly Drug Utilization Report using Excel Spreadsheet.

11. Perform monthly cycle-count of drugs.

12. Refill automated dispensing cabinet (Pyxis) daily.

13. Answer phone calls and emails as needed.

14. Assists in maintaining all required records.

15. Provides general assistance to the pharmacist.

16. Performs all related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • HS/GED; Graduate of an approved pharmacy technician training program, OR an advanced degree, i.e. a Pharmacy Degree from another country OR relevant experience; NYS pharmacy technician license.
  • 1-2 years relevant experience as a hospital pharmacy technician preferred: IV experience preferred.

Pay: $35.00 - $38.00 per hour
