Mount Saint Mary's University-Los Angeles invites applications for the Fletcher Jones Chair of Nursing, a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor reporting to the Dean of Nursing. This endowed role provides a unique opportunity to shape the future of community health nursing in Los Angeles by building meaningful partnerships, advancing service-learning, and supporting faculty and student scholarship in diverse communities.
The Fletcher Jones Chair will work collaboratively across all MSMU nursing programs to strengthen community health curricula, expand student learning opportunities, and elevate the University's visibility and impact in community-based health initiatives.
Supervisory Responsibility
- No staff or student employee responsibility
- Will supervise nursing students in the community setting.
Position Responsibilities
- Develop, coordinate, and supervise ongoing community-based service-learning opportunities for nursing students in traditional and non-traditional healthcare settings.
- Build and sustain partnerships with community and community-based health organizations serving linguistically and culturally diverse populations.
- Collaborate with faculty and other MSMU departments to integrate community health content and service-learning across the curriculum.
- Work with the clinical placement team to establish and maintain agency affiliations.
- Provide continuing education offerings for the external nursing community.
- Seek grant opportunities that support service-learning and community engagement.
- Disseminate program outcomes through presentations, publications, and professional engagement.
- Conduct or participate in research and scholarly writing; support faculty scholarship.
- Fulfill faculty responsibilities as outlined in the MSMU Faculty Handbook, including teaching 15 units per academic year (this includes a six credit hour release for endowed chair activities)
- Supervise nursing students in community settings.
- Evening or weekend work may be required.
The Fletcher Jones Endowed Chair also has access to a small budget to support the above activities.
Rank and Salary
This is a tenure-track Assistant, Associate Professor or Professor position, depending on qualifications. Salary is commensurate with education, experience, and scholarly accomplishments. Tenure expectations follow University policy and include excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.
Position Annual Hiring Salary Range: $90,000 - $120,000 (dependent on rank and qualifications)
Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate's qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description.
Requirements:

Education
- An earned doctoral degree in nursing or a closely related profession from an accredited university and a
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) required.
Experience
- Five years of registered nurse experience.
- Two years of work in public or community health.
- Two years teaching in pre- and/or post-licensure nursing programs.
- One year providing direct patient care.
- One year of managerial experience.
- Grant application and management experience (preferred).
Other
- California registered nurse license or eligibility to obtain one.
- Demonstrated record of publications and/or professional presentations.
