Job Description:
To assist with the daily operation of the Office of Financial Aid as well as counsel students, families, and the community about the Universities financial aid programs. The Assistant Director must have thorough knowledge of financial aid practices within the industry. In addition to managing a caseload of students, the Asst. Director of Financial Aid will be responsible for managing one or more particular responsibilities. The home location for this position is the Doheny Campus.
Work Location: Doheny Campus (Downtown Los Angeles) and Chalon Campus (West Los Angeles). Remote work available 1-2 days per week.

Annual Salary Rate Range: $68,640.00
Monthly Salary Rate Range: $5,720.00
Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate's qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluates applications and performs needs analysis using established procedures, awards financial aid (Federal, State, and Institutional Funds) to new and continuing students
- Counsels and advises new and continuing students regarding financial aid policies and procedures. Disseminate information regarding the application process and how individual students' programs affect their financial aid
- Provides leadership to promote and maintain integrity, accuracy, and timeliness in the delivery of financial aid to students
- Assists all student populations in the Financial Aid process, with an emphasis on assisting the adult students participating in the WEOC program
- Involved with efficient and effective planning and implementation of administrative functions related to processing and reporting of financial aid
- Manages assigned programs within the Financial Aid Office
- Represents the University to students and parents at outreach activities as well as public and private organizations
- Educates the University community regarding financial aid policies and guidelines
- Participates/conducts financial aid workshops and presentations to current and prospective students
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Occasional weekend and evening hours may be required
- Attends training workshops and conferences as needed
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements:
Knowledge:
- Experience with financial aid applications, regulations and student loan programs.
- Working knowledge of needs analysis and statistical reporting and types of student financial aid expenditures.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong spreadsheet and data entry skills
Abilities and Skills:
- Ability to use tact, discretion and diplomacy in advising and responding to questions and concerns from students and their families, including an adult student population.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse population.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently as well as on teams, and to manage multiple, competing projects and deadlines
- A strong commitment to the mission of the University and its students
- Strong organization and prioritization, general mathematics, counseling, customer service, oral/written communication, interpersonal skills.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree preferred. Seminars/workshops/courses in student services area a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum of two years' experience working in a higher education environment. 3-5 years' experience preferred
