JOB SUMMARY:
The Registered Nurse Crisis Stabilization (PATH) provides psychiatric, medical, and medication assisted treatment nursing services, which includes but is not limited to: assessment, treatment planning, administering medications, monitoring for medication side effects, providing medication/illness education, and providing laboratory services where indicated.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide ongoing assessment and develops treatment goals and objectives as identified through the prescribing provider's assessment.
- Provide nursing interventions such as lab work, medication/illness education, administering medications, delivering of medications, making internal/external referrals as identified, monitoring individual progress, symptoms and medication side effects.
- Maintain medication and supply storage areas in compliance with Mount Rogers CSB procedures, licensure regulations and state/federal law.
- Document nursing activities in the individual's electronic record, and keep all records up-to-date according to established policies/procedures
- Attend and participate in meetings such as clinical staffing meetings, business meetings, and nurses' meetings. Keeps mandatory training up-to-date.
- Assist and consult with Agency and tele-med prescribers in regards to scheduling, medication orders, consumer status, and consumer needs.
- Provide community education and consultation services when needed.
- Work closely with crisis stabilization team to ensure that medical needs of the individuals presenting for services are identified and appropriate interventions are obtained.
OTHER DUTIES:
- May provide nursing services as scheduled throughout the Mount Rogers CSB catchment area.
- May provide agency mandatory medication training. (for those nurses competent and trained in the particular area): e.g., Medication Administration Training (initial and recertification), First Aid and CPR, Revive!. Medication Aide, etc.
- Perform such other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Extensive knowledge of mental disorders/substance abuse disorders
- Experience in detox/substance use services
- Knowledge of broad range of treatment modalities
- Skills in diagnostic and statistical techniques such as DSM-V
- Knowledge of personality and /or behavior theory
- Skills in recording, interviewing, assessing, decision making, and treatment planning
- Knowledge of psychotropic medications, indications, and contraindications
- Knowledge and skill in laboratory testing
- Exhibits supervisory skills.
Job Requirements
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelor of Science Nursing (preferred).
Current state licensure (or covered compact licensure) as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Graduate in nursing from an accredited college/university with successful completion of licensure with the Board of Nursing within 90 days of graduation.
One (1) year of professional experience practicing as a Registered Nurse (RN) is preferred. Recent Behavioral Health experience is preferred.
Valid driver’s license with safe driving record.
